Personal Information Consent for Global University Program Educational Monitoring and IBM Open Badge

Global University Program processes personal information to operate, maintain and provide you with features and functions that enhance the learning experience. We may also use the information to diagnose and resolve technical problems, maintain security, personalize content, and remember information to help you efficiently use your account. IBM uses aggregated metrics such as number of students, unique visit to site and pattern of usage to improve content and usability. 

In order to access this site, you will be asked to provide us information about yourself such as:

  • your name, email-address, and general professional attributes such as the geography in which you study and the offering institution you attend.

We may use your email address to send you:

  • Training and course related notices (including notices from instructor, system related notices about assignments and notifications from course related blogs and wikis).
  • We may also use your contact information to send you messages about courses that may be of interest to you.
  • We may also use your contact information to send you surveys, opinion polls and feedback requests to be shared with IBM Managers and Executives.

If you correspond with us by email, we may retain the content of your email messages, your email address and our responses. All Personal information is held for three/3 years (name, email address , institution name, region, course attendance, completion records), including the content of mail correspondence.

The IBM Skills Academy Program has partnered with IBM Managers, IBM Business Partners and IBM Customers, who may offer internship/employment opportunities to students who have completed courses in the IBM Skills Academy Program. IBM Open Badges – Global University Program offers activities or programs that qualify as an IBM Open Badge offering. In addition to any notification from IBM informing you of your completion status for this activity, you will also receive a separate IBM badge claim notification email from upon successful completion. IBM leverages the services of Pearson VUE's Acclaim (a 3rd party) for administration of the IBM Open Badge program. To enable the badge offering, we share your name, email address, and information about the specific badge you are eligible to receive with Person VUE Acclaim.  

In case you are enrolled into a course that entitles you to receive an Open badge, please give your explicit consent (see below for instructions ).You will receive an IBM badge claim notification from that says, "IBM issued you a new badge", along with information about the badge you are eligible to receive. If you would like to receive your badge, you will need to opt-in by clicking the "Accept" button within the email. This action will direct you to the web site where you will be required to create a free badge wallet profile and accept Pearson VUE Acclaim terms and conditions. After completing this step, you will access the badge management section of your new profile to complete the badge claim process. Note: No action is necessary on your part if you choose not to accept the badge. You only need to follow the steps mentioned in this note to claim the badge.

Right to access to the stored data

Withdrawal of Consent

If you choose to withdraw your consent for this site we will remove all your information. Removal of your information includes removal of access to the site, your training records, scores, and transcripts will be deleted. 

Once records are deleted it will not be possible to restore them or provide any training history.
